How to Make a Malaysia Christmas Wreath

Level: ✂️✂️ Beginner – Intermediate
Time: 45–90 minutes
Budget: RM20 – RM60

Attach tropical foliage to the rattan wreath base using floral wire.

Method: Add Your Decorative Elements

  1. Arrange pinecones, dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, berries, and baubles on top of the greenery before gluing.
  2. Experiment with clustering decorations at the bottom or spreading them evenly around the wreath.
  3. Once you are happy with the layout, fix each piece in place using a hot glue gun.
  4. Add extra tropical touches like small rattan balls or batik-inspired ornaments for local flair.

Method: Add Lights (Optional)

  1. Gently wrap a short string of battery-powered fairy lights around the wreath.
  2. Tuck the wire between foliage so it is hidden but the lights still shine through.
  3. Secure the battery pack behind the wreath using floral wire or hot glue.
  4. Make sure the switch remains accessible so you can turn the lights on and off easily.

Method: Finishing Touches

  1. Tie a large bow using red, gold, green, burlap, or batik-style ribbon.
  2. Attach the bow securely to the bottom or top of the wreath with floral wire.
  3. Lightly mist the wreath with glitter spray for extra sparkle (optional).
  4. Lift the wreath and give it a gentle shake to make sure all pieces are firmly attached.
  5. Hang your finished wreath on your front door, wall, or staircase railing.

Finish your wreath with a festive bow and final adjustments.

Decorating Details

Decorating: Step 1 – Fill the Gaps

Cut small sections of foliage and tuck them into any empty spaces between decorations. This helps the wreath look full, round, and lush from every angle.

Decorating: Step 2 – Add Final Ornaments

Add tiny bells, snowflakes, stars, or glitter while the glue is still slightly warm. These small details bring extra sparkle and texture to your Malaysia Christmas wreath.

Decorating: Step 3 – Style & Display

Place the wreath flat on a table and adjust decorations until you are happy with the symmetry. Then hang it and step back to view it from a distance. Make any final tweaks so it looks perfect in its new spot.
